La Manga Club Challenge wins high praise from players

A fabulous gala dinner brought the first English Women’s Golf La Manga Club Challenge to a conclusion – with repeated demands from the players for details of next year’s event.

The La Manga Club in Spain is EWGA’s official overseas partner and this was the association’s first overseas event. Next year’s Challenge is already being planned.

A week of Spanish sunshine, competition and friendship left the competitors definitely wanting more. Their enthusiasm for The Challenge spilled over with repeated cheers as they assembled for the prize presentation on the terrace at the five star Hotel Principe Felipe.

And they were lavish with their praise during the gala dinner. Here is a sample of their comments:

Lesley Mifsud of Carden Park, Cheshire: “Fantastic. I’m rather worried in case I don’t get a place next year. I had the time of my life!”

Paula Cowl of Fingle Glen, Devon: “Excellent value and a great experience.”

Kay Bone of Upminster, Essex: “A really good experience. It was lovely to meet like-minded lady golfers. Bring on next year!”

Irene Bowker of Morecambe, Lancashire: “A wonderful experience. I made many new friends.”

Beryl Aubrey of Henlle Park, Shropshire: “A wonderful experience and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. It’s what golf should be all about: friendship, experience and fun.”

Kim Turner of Rothley Park, Leicestershire: “Great value, lots of fun and a challenge I will work harder for next year. The organisation team was magic.”
