Worcestershire golfer wins La Manga Club break
Worcestershire golfer Jenny Hartley has won EWGA’s prize draw for a luxury break at the La Manga Club, Spain. “It’s fantastic, I am absolutely delighted,” she said.
Jenny, of Gaudet Luce Golf Club, is a huge fan of La Manga Club where she and her husband, Terry, have a timeshare and her step-daughter’s family have a villa. “I was over the moon to get more days there, I just love it there,” she said.
Everyone who had registered to receive the English Women’s Golf Association monthly e-newsletter by the end of August was entered in the draw for the luxury break for two people.
Jenny and Terry will spend three nights at the five-star Hotel Principe Felipe and play two rounds of golf during their stay. “We are thrilled. We’ve never stayed in the hotel, but we have been there and it is a fabulous hotel.”
Jenny was prompted to take up golf after a trip to La Manga Club when she was left minding the grandchildren while other family members played the courses!
In the five years since then she’s achieved a handicap of 24, been ladies’ captain and has just completed her PGA level one coaching qualification. She is working with club professional Russell Adams to encourage girls to take up golf. About 20 girls, aged from six to 14, are currently attending coaching sessions and five were entered in a recent county competition for ladies and juniors – and they filled the first five places!
The La Manga Club is EWGA’s official overseas partner and hosted EWGA’s first overseas event this month: the very successful English Women’s Golf La Manga Club Challenge from October 10-15.
