Linzi Allan keeps up good form at Oklahoma City
Linzi Allan from Dalry, Ayrshire, a sophomore student at Newman University, Wichita, Kansas, taking part in the Mahogany UCO Classic, was the overnight joint leader with a first-round score of 71 over the par 70 (6120yd) course at Lincoln Park East Golf Club, Oklahoma City.
She added a second round score of 76 for a total score of 147 to finish tied for eighth in a field of 93 players, only four shots behind the overall winner, Wallis Spears (St Edward University).
Linzi’s team-mates, Megan Birdsey (jt 24th) from Bedfordshire and Alyssa Balding (jt 32nd) from Northumberland, had aggregates of 154 (75-79) and 157 (76 81) respectively.
Lizi Sweetnam (Arkansas Tech) had rounds of 81 and 78 to finish 47th on 159.
Newman University finished seventh with a new school record of 615 in a field of 17 teams. Arkansas Tech finished ninth on 627, also a school record. The competition was won by Central Oklahoma (582).
