JAMES WHITE TOP OF THE CLASS AT LADYBANK By COLIN FARQUHARSON Stirling's James White outclassed a field of his student peers to win the Scottish Universities Order of Merit 36-hole stroke-play competition at Ladybank Golf Club earlier this week. White, pictured, son of a former Tartan Tour professionald and a former Scottish boys' match-play champion from the Lundin club, Fife, had rounds of 65 and 71 for a total of 136 - seven strokes ahead of joint runners-up Andrew Wallace (70-73) and Zander Culverwell (73-70), both also Stirling University students. Welsh international Gemma Bradbury (St Andrews) won the women's event with scores of 73 and 71 for 144. She won by an even bigger margin that White - 11 shots ahead of runner-up Rachel McQueen (Elmwood) who had rounds of 76 and 79 for 155. White, Culverwell, David Booth (75-73) and Bobby Rushford (75-75) were members of the winning Stirling men's team (427). Gemma Bradbury, Megan Jones (78-83) and Georgina Mosquera (82-80) won the women's team event for St Andrews (305).
