Korea now in the lead - Scotland improve to 28th
The gap between the leading team, Korea on 273 (-15), and Scotland on 294 (+6), lengthened to 21 shots but Scotland improved their position slightly and moved 5 places up the leaderboard to 28th in the World Team Championships in Argentina today. The event is being held at the Olivos and Buenos Aires Golf Clubs.
Korea came out of the starting blocks well and set a blistering pace in their second round over the Buenos Aires course. Ji-Hee Kim, with 10 birdies and one bogey in an outstanding 9 under par 63 had the best round of the day, closely matched by her team-mate Jung-Eun Han with a 9 birdie / 2 bogey round of 65. Their third player Hyun-Soo Kim had a very respectable 2 under par 70 which was not counted.
Languishing at one over par after the first day's play, Korea's total of 16 under par today catapulted them up the leaderboard to overtake the United States, who are now in second place on 274 (-14). Germany are in third place on 277 (-11)
Ireland are the best of the GB&I countries, tied for 13th on 287 (-1). Leona Maguire had a 2 under 70, and her twin sister Lisa a 73. Danielle McVeigh's 76 did not count.
England are tied for 21st place on 293 (+5) after a pair of 71s from Hannah Burke and Kelly Tidy. A 76 from Holly Clyburn did not count.
Scotland shaved one shot off their overnight +7 total with a 70 from Sally Watson and a 73 from Louise Kenney. Kelsey Macdonald had a 77. They are now on 294 (+6)
Wales slipped to 296 (+8) after an even par 72 from Amy Boulden and a 75 from Gemma Bradbury. Tara Davies had a 77.
The best individual total is now Jessica Korda of the United States, who added a 6 under 66 to her first round 68 for a total of 134.
