Ashleigh and W Essex team-mates off to sunny Spain
NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Essex teenager Ashleigh Greenham has helped her club become Junior Team Champions of England – and soon they’re off to Spain to contest the Home Nations final in Spain. Ashleigh, 14, and her team-mates from West Essex Golf Club will take on representatives of Scotland, Ireland and Wales in the championship final at Polaris El Valle Golf Club, Murcia, from January 12-17. The championship will be featured on Sky Sports.
Ashleigh, who is a member of the English Women’s Golf Association Super Birdies South East Squad, is the holder of the East region and Essex U15 girls’ championships.
She was a regular team member as West Essex steadily made its way through preliminary rounds of the Junior Team Championship and played a key role in both the regional and national finals.
West Essex beat 13 other teams to claim the England title in the national final on the Championship course at the MacDonal Portal Hotel in Cheshire. Among the other girls playing in the final was English champion Hayley Davis from Ferndown in Dorset.
The Home Nations Championship involves about 1300 clubs across the UK and about 13,000 junior boys and girls.
