Gemma Dryburgh bound for Tulane University next August

Gemma Dryburgh, the Aberdeen businessman's teenage daughter who is a pupil at the IMG David Leadbetter Golf Academy, Bradenton, Florida has signed a Letter of Intent to enrol at Tulane University, New Orleans in Louisiana next August.
Tulane University head women's golf coach, John Thomas Horton, also announced the signing for the 2011-2012 college golf season of Ines Lescudier, a native of Marseille, who is one of the top French junior prospects.
"This was an important recruiting class for our golf program because we are not only losing a pair of seniors, but two nationally-ranked players in Janine Fellows and Linn Gustafsson. I feel comfortable that the experience and ability both Ines and Gemma bring to the team will enable each of them to step right in and compete right away," Horton said.
A 5-4 left-hander who plays right handed, Lescudier currently ranks No. 5 in the French women's amateur rankings and is their No 2 junior. She was beaten finalist in this year's French women's amateur championship.
"We are very excited that Ines will be joining us in August and that she will spend the next four years at Tulane University," Horton said. "She is one of the most accomplished international juniors in the game today. Ines has an impressive resume. Her strengths include her experience and her knowledge of the game. I expect her to be able to make an immediate impact on our program."
"Gemma is one of the future stars of this game," Horton said. "She has played fantastic the past six months (in US girls' tournaments) and it wouldn't surprise me at all if she comes in and has a great freshman year.
"Her personality is perfect for the game of golf, which is definitely one of her strengths. Gemma is a true joy to be around and a very good player and we are looking forward to seeing how successful she will be here at Tulane."

Gemma's dad John told Kirkwoodgolf.com:
"Gemma was born and brought up in Westhill and very much considers Aberdeen her home town. She still wears her Dons' strip to gym sessions!
We are absolutely delighted with the Tulane scholarship.
"The girls' golf programme only restarted three seasons ago after the damage to the University from Hurricane Katrina and they are one of only a handful of colleges which  qualified for the last two NCAA Division 1 National Championships. Tulane are now ranked 14 in the latest Division 1 Golfstat rankings .
"John (JT) Horton is one of the best girls' college coaches in the country and a really nice man. The university is one of the “Southern Ivy League “ colleges and has an attractive traditional campus in New Orleans’ Garden District . Gemma will have a great opportunity to fulfill her golfing ambitions while studying for a degree at a top college."
