Stephanie Meadow top-ranked British player

in Golfweek US college rankings

Sally Watson's indifferent form for Stanford University, California in the first half of the 2010-2011 college golf season has seen the Curtis Cup Scot from Edinburgh drop out of the top 100 in the Golfweek Sagarin women's college rankings.
There are only two British players in the leading 100 - 18-year-old Alabama University freshman and Curtis Cup reserve, Stephanie Meadow whose home club is Royal Portrush - venue for the 2011 British women's open amateur championship next June.
Stephanie, who has been based in America for most of the year for the past few years, is ranked No 48 in the Golfweek Sagarin ratings.
The only other British player in the top 100 is Ellie Givens (Denver University) from Darlington and a past English girls champion. Ellie is ranked at No 99.
Sally Watson, a member of the GBandI team at the 2008 and 2010 Curtis Cup matches, is the third best British player, ranked at No 123.
Here is a list of all the British and Irish female golf students we could find in the Golfweek Sagarin women's rankings. We do not claim it is a complete list. You may be able to tell us we have missed somebody out .... although players at the smaller junior colleges tend not to be ranked.
Bear in mind that there are literally thousands of girls playing golf at US colleges so to be ranked at all is an achievement!
