HEATHER ANDERSON STILL BLOOMING AT 80!
Heather Anderson, Scottish women's amateur champion in 1969 and a member of the Great Britain and Ireland team for the Vagliano Trophy match against the Continent of Europe that year, celebrates her 80th birthday tomorrow (Saturday, December 18).
She beat Kathleen Lackie (Montrose) by 5 and 4 in the national final of 1969.
She was Renfrewshire women's county champion nine times, and played for Scotland in the women's home internationals of 1964, 1965, 1968, 1969, 1970 and 1971.
Interesting to look back and see the Scotland line-up of 1964:
Mrs H ANDERSON
Miss M FOWLER
Miss J LAWRENCE
Miss E PHILIP
Mrs S REID
Mrs I ROBERTSON
Mrs B SINGLETON
Miss M SPEIR
Miss M PARK (captain).
Amazingly at her age, Heather still plays off a handicap of six and is a member of Troon Ladies and Caldwell Golf Clubs.
