LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR Q SCHOOL PRE-QUALIFIER
FROM THE LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR WEBSITE
Caroline Hedwall, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, stormed nine shots clear of her half of the field at Ladies European Tour Pre-Qualifying School on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old from Loddekopinge in Sweden shot a third round of eight under par 64 on the South Course at La Manga Club in Cartagena, Murcia.
Hedwall, who recently turned professional after a phenomenal amateur career, returned a three round score of 11 under par, rocketing up the leader board with eight birdies, including four on the front nine and four on the back.
Hedwall is a laid back Swede who looks set for a successful career on tour. The next best placed player behind her was French amateur Joanna Klatten on two-under-par and Jaclyn Sweeney of the United States was the only other player under par in third.
American amateur Allison Micheletti, who has her boyfriend, European No.1 Martin Kaymer on the bag, continued to improve, adding a third round of 75 to her opening rounds of 89 and 76 to tie for 62nd.
Kaymer is not the only European Tour player on caddie duties at Pre-Qualifying, as Swedish professional Emelie Lind is attempting to retain her card with the help of her European Tour player boyfriend Alexander Noren on caddie duties. Noren wrote on his blog: “It's weird and really enjoyable to be on the other side of the shots for a change. But I don't think I'm a good caddie though. I can't keep my mouth shut.”
Lind played on the other side of the course and shot rounds of 80, 74 and a 73 on the North to lie in a tie for 39th on her side of the draw.
Sweden’s Louise Larsson was at the head of affairs on four-under-par after a third round of 72 on the North course. She was one ahead of Japan’s Erika Kuwahara.
After Thursday’s fourth and final round, the leading 35 players and those tied will progress to Final Stage Qualifying at La Manga Club from 15-20 August, after which the top 30 players will earn their full cards in category 8a for the 2011 Ladies European Tour.

CLARE AND HEATHER LOOKING GOOD
Downfield assistant professional Heather MacRae, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, and Clare Queen (The Carrick at Loch Lomond) are on course to progress from the Ladies European Tour School's 72-hole pre-qualifier at La Manga to the Final Q School, also at the Spanish venue, from December 15 to 19.
Clare is the best placed of five Scots in the field which is split into two groups playing the North-South courses in a different sequence.
Queen, six years on the LET but now fighting for survival after a season of indifferent form, has scored 73, 71 and 75 for a creditable two-over-par tally of 219 to be lying joint seventh behind leader by 15 strokes, Sweden's Caroline Hedwall (65 for 206) in the group playing the South-North sequence.
Also in this group but with bleak prospects of figuring in the top 35 and ties who qualifying after Thursday's final round are Glasgow's Gemma Webster, who has scored 78, 75 and 81 for 234 and joint 54th place, and Majorca-based Scottish amateur Lauren Mackin who is 72nd after scores of 80, 77 and 86 for 243.
Heather MacRae is in joint 11th position of the group playing the North-South sequence. The former British women's amateur stroke-play champion has had three steady rounds of 74, 73 and 74 for six-over-par 221, 10 behind leader Louise Larsson (Sweden) (72 for 211).
Also in this group is Carnoustie's Katy McNicoll in 69th place on 237 with disappointing scores of 79, 78 and 80 for 237.
She will need an extra-special last round to make the top 35 and ties in this group.
Katy's older brother Keir McNicoll failed to survive the European Tour's Stage 2 eliminator in Spain earlier this week.
