PAUL, HEIDI CARRY ENGLAND HOPES IN JUNIOR ORANGE BOWL

Paul Lockwood and Heidi Baek, pictured left by Cal Carson Golf Agency, are England's representatives in the Junior Orange Bowl boys' and girls' championships over four rounds this week, teeing off at the Biltmore course, Coral Gables, Florida on Monday.

It's one of the leading junior events on the world golf calendar and the two champions in 2009 are both doing well since they turned professional - Frenchman Romain Wattel and American Lexi Thompson.

There are 56  competitors in the boys' field and 31 in the girls.

HEIDI WINS U S JUNIOR MASTERS

England girl international Heidi Baek held her nerve through a sudden death play-off to win the United States Junior Masters Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Florida.
The Suffolk teenager won the title when she holed a 14-footer for a birdie at the first extra hole of the play-off on the 18th on the Stadium course. Her opponent, Megan Khang of the United States, was only six feet away with her approach shot but missed her birdie putt to the right of the hole.
Heidi, 17, said: “I had a similar putt earlier so I saw the line. If it had not gone it would have been five-foot past. I’m really glad it dropped.”
The Felixstowe Ferry player started the third and final round one shot behind Khang. She took a two-shot lead on the 14th where Khang had a triple bogey and she held that advantage until the 18th. On the last hole, however, Heidi had a bogey while Khang had a birdie to take the contest into extra time.
The championship was played on the tough Dye’s Valley and Stadium courses. Heidi had rounds of 75 75 and 78 while Khang had 75 74 and 79 to be 12 over par for the three rounds. Third place went to Nicole Broch Larsen of Denmark with 76 77 and 77.
The only other English player in the tournament was Kelly Tidy of Royal Birkdale, the reigning British amateur champion, who had rounds of 81 77 and 86 to take 12th place.
The event was part of the Foundation of the World Junior Golf Series designed to showcase the best junior players (ages 12-19) on the world stage.
