ABERDEEN LADIES HONOUR MARGARET MacNAUGHTAN
Mrs Margaret MacNaughtan has been elected Honorary Life President of Aberdeen Ladies Golf Club.
She is only the third person to hold this office since the club's formation in 1892. The others were Charlotte Lyon (1972-2000) and Mrs Tony Moffat (2000-2009).
Mrs MacNaughtan was captain of Aberdeen Ladies during its Centenary year of 1992.
She has been chairman of the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association and captain of Scotland women's and girls' international teams.
Margaret was also a Scotland hockey international at centre half in the 1960s.
She had to give up hockey when she became pregnant with daughter Fiona who is the current Aberdeen Ladies club champion as Mrs Seedhouse (she beat Sheena Wood in last year's final, ending Sheena's run of 13 years as club champion).
+Thanks to Margaret Reid, secretary of Aberdeen Ladies, for the above information.
