CHARLEY BEATS ALYSON IN FLORIDA MATCH-PLAY

By  COLIN FARQUHARSON
Woburn wonder girl Charley Hull beat Scotland girl international Alyson McKechin (Elderslie) in the second round of the Jones-Doherty match-play championship at Coral Ridge Country Club, the second event of Florida's Orange Blossom Tour for female amateur golfers.
No 3 seed Hull, pictured left, only 14 years old and runner-up in last weekend's South Atlantic women's amateur championship, did not have it all her own way against McKechin, 19th of the 32 qualifiers for the match-play stages but won in the end by 4 and 3.
Top seed Kyle Roig, who received a bye into the last 16, won by 2 and 1 over Stirling University student Jordana Graham (Southerness) who was the 16th qualifier. Taking the top qualifier to the 17th green represented quite a performance by the young Scot.
English Curtis Cup player Holly Clyburn (Woodhall Spa), the No 10 qualifier, lost by 3 and 2 to Argentina teenager Victoria Tanco, the No 7 seed.
Stirling University student Eilidh Mackay (Nairn Dunbar), competing in the first-round match-play first for losers on the first day of the championship match-play, had a good win by one hole over American C Myrhrum who was seeded above her.
