Charley Hull, 14-year-old Woburn Golf Club junior member from Kettering, won the Jones-Doherty match-play championship at Coral Ridge Country Club, Fort Lauderdale today.
The Northamptonshire youngster, who was the No 3 seed, beat the top qualifier for the match-play stages, 17-year-old Kyle Roig, a native of Puerto Rico but now living and attending school at Pembroke Pines, Florida, by 2 and 1 in the 18-hole final.
Charley is the second youngest winner of the Jones-Doherty title, after Alexis Thompson, now a professional.
Last year Kyle Roig beat Thompson in a play-off for the Harder Hall Invitational, the first event on the Orange Blossom Tour
Last weekend Charley, pictured, finished second to American Jaye Marie Green in the South Atlantic women's amateur championship at Oceanside Country Club, another event on the Orange Blossom Tour for female amateurs in Florida.
Charley gained "revenge" on 16-year-old Jaye Marie Green, the No 2 seed although she had the same qualifying score as Miss Hull earlier the week, by beating her 3 and 2 in the semi-finals at Coral Ridge Country Club on Friday.
It's been a marvellous January in Florida for Charley who also finished joint 12th in the opening event in Florida, the Harder Hall Invitational.
Miss Hull scored an impressive clutch of open tournament wins over players older and more experienced than herself during the 2010 season which ended with her gaining her first full cap for England in the women's home internationals at Whitchurch, Cardiff in September.

More than anything, Kyle Roig will remember the shots she missed.
"I'll probably have nightmares tonight, after that round," said Roig, who lost to Charley Hull 2 and 1 in the final of the 79th annual Ione D. Jones/Doherty Women's Amateur Championship at the Coral Ridge Country Club on Saturday.
After the match, Roig began going through all the shots that bothered her, counting them on her fingers — she eventually ran out of digits to continue.
"That's a lot of bad shots," said Roig, who had just one birdie after averaging five per match through the first five rounds of the six-day tournament.
"I just couldn't get it going. It's frustrating that my game decided to fall apart today, in the final."
The match's turning point came on the 12th hole. With Hull leading by two, both golfers' drives found the bunker on the Par 3.
When Hull's second shot flew over the green, Roig set up nicely on the backside of the green and could seemingly taking advantage.
But Hull's chip rolled right by the edge of the hole, setting up a tough 10-foot, downhill putt that she dropped in for bogey, preventing Roig from cutting the lead in half.
Hull, a 14-year-old from Kettering, England, became the second-youngest golfer to win the event. Coral Springs' Alexis Thompson, who won the Doherty Cup the last two years, was the youngest winner ever (13 years old).
"I totally forgot she's 14. … Wow, she doesn't act it," said Roig, a senior at American Heritage.
"I'll get over it. I had a really good week, you have to try to take the positives out of it, it's only one day."
