HOLLY CLYBURN SHARING THIRD AT DIXIE AMATEUR

While the wind and the Heron Bay Golf Club course combined to get the better of most of the field in yesterday's first round of The Women’s Dixie Amateur, Davie resident and Nova Southeastern University star Taylor Collins will take a one-stroke lead into the second round.

Her three-under-par 69 over the 6,400yd lay-out puts her in the pole position, ahead of British girls champion Alexandra Bonetti from Paris, France.

Bonetti’s 70 has her two strokes ahead of five players sharing third place, Curtis Cup player Holly Clyburn (Woodhall Spa), pictured, from Cleethorpes, England, Aurora Kan of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, Ginger Howard of Bradenton, Florida, Paula Reto of South Africa and Coral Springs, Florida and Carly Yadloczky of Casselberry, Florida.
Ashley Lance of Franklin, Tennessee hit the shot of the day, holing out from 155yd range for eagle at her 18th hole (the ninth on the course) to come in at 76, tying her for 20th place going into the second round.
In the Senior Division, Diane Lang of Jamaica and Weston, Florida holds a one stroke lead after firing a 75. One back of the lead is Mimi Hoffman of Springfield, Virginia whose is 2 strokes ahead of Lisa Schlesinger of Laytonsville, Maryland and Anna Schultz of Rockwall, Texas whose 78s have them three strokes off the lead.
