LPGA TOUR PLAYER MISSES CUT ON HOOTERS TOUR

FROM THE GOLFWEEK WEBSITE
Brittany Lincicome’s match against the men ended one day early.
Lincicome, 25, who this week became the first LPGA player to tee it up on the Hooters Tour, shot 77 Wednesday to miss the cut in a Winter Series event at Deer Island Golf Club in Tavares, Florida.
She finished with a two-round total of 7-over 151, in a tie for 81st (top 38 and ties made the cut) in a field of 113 entries.
On the 7,029-yard Deer Island lay-out – more than 500 yards longer than the typical LPGA course – Lincicome managed only four birdies in two rounds.
For the sake of comparison, she was fourth on the LPGA in birdies per round, with 3.76, in 2010.
Brittany is not trying to prove a point, i.e. than on a given day, female players can be just as good as men. This wasn’t here first foray into men’s events. The Seminole, Florida resident previously has played on the Moonlight Tour to stay fresh during the long off-season. The LPGA season doesn’t begin until mid-February and she played on the Hooters Tour as a means of sharpening up for that.
“I didn’t want them to think that I was pulling an Annika or a Michelle Wie and trying to compare myself with the guys,” Lincicome told Golfweek’s Julie Williams. “Any interview that I’ve done, it’s like, it has nothing to do with that, it’s being able to stay competitive.”
Lincicome was 15th on the 2010 LPGA money list, with $663,806 in earnings.
+Inverness exile Russell Knox, a prolific money-winner on the Hooters Tour, leads the Deer Island event with rounds of 67 and 66 for 11-under-par 133. He is two shots ahead of Americans Brian Harman (67-68) and Jason Parajeckas (67-68).

Englishman Chris Paisley, a former US college student who played for Great Britain and Ireland in the 2009 Walker Cup match at Merion, is joint 16th on 142 (70-72).
Robert McKnight, a former Scottish junior international who is now based at Sunrise, Florida, missed the cut (144 or better) with scores of 73 and 74 for 147.
Englishman Ryan Newman missed the cut with rounds of 82 and 75 for 157.
