CHARLEY HULL (14) IS HIGHEST WORLD RANKED ENGLISH AMATEUR

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Teenager Charley Hull is the highest-ranked English woman amateur in the world, according to a new ranking website just launched.
The official website of the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) is administered jointly by the RandA and the USGA, and incorporates both the new women’s rankings and the men’s rankings which were first established five years ago.
Charley Hull, the 14-year-old England international from Woburn, is ranked 26th in the world and is one of four English players in the top 100.
The others are English champion Hayley Davis (Ferndown) 60th, Curtis Cup player Holly Cluburn (Woodhall Spa) 82nd and international Hannah Burke (Mid-Herts) 91st. Just outside the top 100 are British champion Kelly Tidy (Royal Birkdale) 116th, and international Charlotte Ellis (Minchinhampton) 118th
The current women’s number one is 2010 LPGA Xavier International Champion Mitsuki Katahira from Japan. The top GB&I player is Irish twin Leona Maguire who is ranked fourth in the world. Her sister, Lisa, is 32nd
The introduction of the Women's World Amateur Golf Ranking was announced earlier in the month and follows an extensive period of testing by The RandA. The women’s ranking currently has a calendar of 1,350 counting events with more than 3,100 ranked players from 50 countries.
The WAGR compares amateur performance in elite competition over a rolling, 52-week period. The updated ranking, accompanied by news stories reporting the previous week’s action, will appear on the website at 12pm (GMT), every Wednesday
