NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE FALDO SERIES
Young Scottish golfers have until the last day of February to enter the Faldo Series UK Championship to be played at the acclaimed Roxburghe Golf and Country Club near Kelso on June 29-30.
It is one of nine UK events to be played on this year’s Faldo Series Europe schedule which this year comprises a record 18 events staged in 12 different countries as far afield as Bahrain, Brazil, the Czech Republic, England, Germany, Greece, Northern Ireland, Russia, Scotland, Slovakia, The Netherlands and Wales.
Each of the events is divided into five age group categories (Boys’ Under-21, Boys’ Under-18, Boys’ Under-16, Girls’ Under-21 and Girls’ Under-16) with the winners from each category earning a place in the 15th Faldo Series Europe Grand Final, to be played at the Lough Erne Resort, Co. Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, on September 12-14.
The five winners at Lough Erne will then be invited to the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final, to be staged at Mission Hills Golf Club, China, in March 2012.
Both Grand Finals will be hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, founder of the Faldo Series, and played on courses designed by the six-time Major Champion.
Faldo Series graduates include Rory McIlroy, Nick Dougherty, Marc Warren, John Parry, Yani Tseng, Melissa Reid and Florentyna Parker, all winners on Tour.

EDITOR'S NOTE: How unfortunate that the Faldo Series European Grand Final in Northern Ireland (September 12-14) clashes with another big event for top teenagers - The Duke of York Young Champions Trophy Tournament, to be held at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, starting on September 13.
