YANI TSENG YOUNGEST TO BE WOMEN'S WORLD NO 1 PRO
Taiwan's Yani Tseng has surged to the top of women's golf world rankings after winning the Australian Ladies Masters on Sunday. The previous Sunday she won the Handa Australian Women's Open.
Tseng, 22, overtakes South Korea's Shin Ji-yai at the top of the rankings.
"It is so soon, I wasn't expecting it as quickly as this," said Tseng.
The three-time major winner is the youngest world number one since the rankings were introduced in 2006.
Sweden's Annika Sorenstam was the previous holder of that record.
"I don't want to be number one for one week or two weeks, I want to still be there at the end of the year," said Tseng.
Former world number one Shin did not play in Melbourne last week.
