ABBEY AND NICOLE HELP NOVA SOUTHEASTERN WIN TEAM TITLE

Two English students, Abbey Gittings from Tamworth, Warwickshire and Nicole Whitmore from Milton Keynes help Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale in Florida, win the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational for a third year in a row at Tuscawilla Country Club, Winter Springs, Florida this week.
Abbey, in her second year at Nova Southeastern, tied for second place with three rounds of 75 for a total of 225 - one shot behind the winner, Melanie Audette (Florida Southern) (72-76-76).
Alongside Abbey on the 225 mark were Emily Flanagan (Florida State) (78-73-74) and the top-ranked Japanese student, Mitsuki Katahira (Daytona State) (77-73-75) who was suffering a rare defeat.
Final-year student Nicole, pictured right, finished joint seventh on 231 with scores of 79, 78 and 74.
Two other British students were in the field of 82 players.
Welsh girl international Kelly Miller (Daytona State College) finished 67th with scores of 84, 88 and 85 for 257 while Scotland's Louise McGillivary (Carson-Newman College, Tennessee) from Banchory shot rounds of 91, 86 and 87 for 71st place on 264.
Nova Southeastern headed the team title race with a total of 914, four shots ahead of runners-up Florida State with quite a big gap to the third-placed Rollins College on 944. Carson-Newman College finished 11th on 980.
