ADAM HEDGES LETS US COLLEGE WIN SLIP OVER FINAL ROUND

Adam Hedges (Belmont Abbey College, Charlotte), pictured, let his victory chance slip over the final round to finish second, beaten by a single shot, in the Argonaut Invitational men's college tournament at Pensacola Country Club in Florida.
Hedges' first two rounds of 71 and 70 over the par-72, 6,815yd course, put him back in contention but he slipped to a final round of 73 for 214 and was pipped by North Alabama's Jace Windom who tagged on a title-winning 68 to earlier scores of 75 and 70.
Peter Tarver Jones from Worthing, also a student at Belmont Abbey College, finished joint 10th in a field of 75 players. Peter had rounds of 76, 71 and 71 for a total of three-over-par 219.
Mark Dickson from Edinburgh, a student at the University of South Carolina-Aiken (USCA), just made the top 20, finishing joint 19th with improving scores of 78, 74 and 72 for 225.
Team-mate and fellow Scot Kyle Godsman from Lossiemouth shared 25th place on 225 with three rounds of 75.
Tom Stephenson (Belmont Abbey College) from Bury St Edmonds) tied for 67th place on 240, made up of rounds of 76, 78 and 86.
West Florida (874) won the team title ahead of Georgia College (877) with USCA (880) third and Belmont Abbey Colelge (886) fourth of the 14 competing teams.
MAXWELL DOWN THE FIELD AT COYOTE CLASSIC
Glasgow's Steven Maxwell (Western New Mexico University) had rounds of 76, 76 and 73 for a total of 15-over-par 225 in finishing joint 38th in a field of 89 players at this week's Coyote Classic at Arrowhead Country Club, San Bernadino, California.
He finished 24 shots behind the winner by five strokes, Eric Frazzetta (Chico State) who had rounds of 64, 73 and 64 for a nine-under-par total of 201 over the par-70, 6,525yd course.
RAFFI LOSES HER WAY IN SAN JOSE
She finished 18 shots behind he winner Emily Childs (California University) who scored 72, 71 and 763 for level par 216. California had a 1-2 finish with Joanne Lee coming second on 217 (72-72-73).
Not surprisingly, California won the team title by a huge margin. They totalled 861, 38 shots ahead of runners-up UC Davis (whose women's coach is Anne Walker from Strathaven).
Oregon finished third of 12 on 904.

Raffi Dyer, pictured left, from Hayling, Hampshire - a student at Oregon University - looked set for a top-20 finish until a disastrous round of 80 knocked her down to joint 33rd in a field of 65 for the Juli Inkster Spartan Invite women's college tournament at Almaden Golf and Country Club, San Jose this week.
Raffi had opening rounds of 76 and 78 (including a double bogey) but then slumped to double bogeys at the fourth and 16th) in her closing 80 for an 18-over-par total of 234 at the par-72, 6121yd venue in California.She finished 18 shots behind he winner Emily Childs (California University) who scored 72, 71 and 763 for level par 216.
