Anglo-Scot Stuart Ballingall, a student at Missouri University and a former Scotland boy international, finished runner-up to college team-mate Jace Long in a Missouri 1-2 finish to the Jackrabbait Invitational men's college tournament at Primm Valley Club, near Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday.
A former Scotland Under-18 international team member, Ballingall, one of the highest-rated Scots in the World Amateur Golf Rankings although he has never played for the Scotland men's team, followed up a brilliant opening round of 10-under-par 62 over a 7,090yd course with scores of 70 and 69 for a total of 15-under-par 201.
Long shot 63, 69 and 67 for 199.
Ballingall, pictured, was born in Norwich of Scottish parents and lists Scotland as his golfing "home."
Amazingly, if the GB and I team for September's Walker Cup match at Royal Aberdeen were to be selected automatically from the top 10 British and Irish players in the WAGR, then Stuart would be on the fringe of a place in the team.
His performances in US college golf are solely responsible for his high standing in the WAGR in which he is the third highest ranked Scot behind James Byrne and Michael Stewart.
A third Missouri University student, William Harrold from St Albans, finished joint 43rd in a field of 81 players with scores of 72, 76 and 73.
Missouri (827) won their second team title of the year, but only by a single shot from Idaho University in a field of 14 teams.
