Scotland girl international Hannah McCook has confirmed that the reason she missed today's Scottish Junior Champion of Champions Tournament at The Duke's Course, St Andrews was SNOW - and lots of it in the Highlands where she lives.
She E-mailed Kirkwoodgolf.co.uk:
"Yeah, I'm snowed in. The A9 is really bad. I'm very disappointed to miss it after all the training the SLGA have given me this winter.

"It just wasn't sensible to travel, living in Nethy Bridge in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. It hasn't stopped snowing in 36 hours. Cairngorm, 10 miles away, had 30 inches (correct) of snow last night (sat-sun).
"I left Nethy at 8am yesterday (Sat) for coaching with David Torrance at Nairn Dunbar. When i got home at 3pm, it had already been snowing for 5 hours and the roads were becoming difficult.
"We cancelled traveling on Saturday afternoon due to the snow. At 5am this morning (Sunday) when we checked whether it was safe to go, the police were still advising not to travel because of the snow and high winds.
"I have now changed my home club to Grantown as I play all of my local golf there, and they have helped over the years with my coaching. However, I am still a member at Abernethy Golf Club."
