DAVID McGREGOR 8th AT MYRTLE BEACH COLLEGE EVENT

Helensburgh's David McGregor, son of former swimming ace Bobby McGregor and a student at Post University, Connecticut, finished eighth in a field of 26 at the Southern Swing Invitational men's college golf tournament at Woodland Valley Copuntry Club, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the weekend.

Over a 6,907yd, par-72 course, David, pictured, had rounds of 84 and 80 for a total of 164, finishing 14 shots behind the winner, Devon Ripley (Goldey-Beacom College) (80-70).

McGregor's Post University team-mates Thomas Rees from Wales and Ross Earnshaw from York finished second and joint third respectively.

Rees scored j79 and 74 for 153, three behind Ripley.

Earnshaw had rounds of 72 and 83 for 155.

Post Universtiy (634) won the team event from Dowlinig College (650) in a field of five squads.

Georgina Hunt from Eastbourne, a student at Toledo University, finished last but one in a field of 18 for the Quail Run Invitational women's college tournament at Quail Run Golf Club, Verde in Arizona.
Georgie had a pair of 90s for 180. The par of the course 72 and the yardage 6,244.
Jenn Cleart (Michigan) won by four strokes with scores of 76 and 75 for 151.
