ELIZABETH HAYCOCK GETS TOP 20 FINISH IN BIG USA FIELD

Old Dominion University, Virgina freshman student Elizabeth Haycock from Birmingham achieved a praiseworthy top-20 finish in a field of 112 players at this week's C and F Bank Intercollegiate women's tournament at Ford's Colony Country Club, Williamsburg in the state of Virginia.
Elizabeth, pictured right, had rounds of 84 and 74 over a par-72, 5,983yd course for a total of 158 and joint 16th place behind the winner, Seo Hee Mon (Yale University) who had a great round of 66 to "blow away" the field and then tagged on a 76 for level par 142 to win by six strokes.
Two Old Dominion students, Kim Bradbury from Derbyshire and Emma Gilmore from Ireland finished tied 29th and 54th respectively. Kim had rounds of 80 and 81 for 161; Emma 78 and 88 for 166.
Harriet Owers-Bradley from Nottinghamshire and a Yale team-mate of the winner, scored 77 and 86 for 163 which earned her a share of 39th place.
Yale (606) won the team title ahead of St John's (616). Old Dominion (634) came joint fifth in a field of 21 teams.
HANNAH COLES TOP BRIT IN LOW COUNTRY INTERCOLLEGIATE
Hannah Coles from Birmingham and a student at Radford University, Virginia gained the highest finish of the four British students in the field of 72 for the Low Country Intercollegiate women's tournament at Moss Creek Plantation, Hilton Head in South Carolina.
Over a par-72 course of 5,853 yards, Hannah, pictured, had rounds of 85 and 79 for a total of 164 and joint 25th place.
Team-mate Kristy Condon - Paisley-born but her family now live in Lincolnshire - finished joint 40th on 167 with scores of 85 and 82.
Sammy Vass, also from Scotland, a student at Gardner-Webb University, finished joint 45th on 168 with rounds of 87 and 81.
Welsh girls champion Rachel Lewis (USC Upstate) tied for 53rd place with scores of 84 and 87 for 171.
Appalachian State University dominated the proceedings by supplying the 1-2-3 in the individual event and winning the team event by nine shots from Samford University. Gardner Webb (644) finished fourth and Radford (661) ninth. USC Update (688) came last of the 14 teams.
The winner with rounds of 74 and 73 for 147 was Yue Xu, a sophmore student from Beijing, China. She was the Chinese women's amateur champion in 2009 and is now ranked No 3 female amateur in China.
