LAURA JONES CHALKS UP SIXTH WIN IN UNITED STATES

Chester-born Laura Jones, in the last month or two of her four-year course at Oklahoma City University, this week chalked up Win No 6 on the US women's college circuit.
Royal Liverpool Golf Club member Laura, pictured left, who will be 22 on July 29, did it in the California Baptist University Spring Break women's college tournament at Primm Valley Golf Club's Lakes Course at Primm, Nevada.
Trailing by a shot at halfway in the 36-hole event Cutler matched the par of 72 over the 6,059yd course at the second time of asking and her total fo three-over-par 147 equalled that of Megan Woodland (Victoria BC) who had scores of 74 and 73.
No word of a play-off so they shared the victory at the head of a field of 64 players. Well done, Laura!
Oklahoma City (613) were pipped by a shot for the team title, won by British Columbia in a field of 12 teams.

JACQUELINE SNEDDON FINISHES SECOND IN CALIFORNIA

Jacqueline Sneddon from Meigle, Perthshire, also coming to the end of four years as a US college student - at Grand Canyon University, Arizona - finished second in a field of 48 players in California at the Chico State Interwest Invite women's college tournament over a par-72 course of 5,904yd.
Jacqueline, pictured right, had a pair of 77s for 154, finishing one shot behind the winner, Darcy Lake (CSU-Monterey Bay) who shot 76 and 77 for 153.
Jacqueline's team-mates Georgina Dunn from Peterborough and Tiffany Hewetson from Brighton both made the top 20, Georgina in joint 15th place, Tiffany in a share of 19th place.
Dunn scored 86 and 79 for 165, Hewetson 86 and 81 for 167.
Grand Canyon, thanks to the three Brits' top-20 finish, won the team event by three shots from Western Washington in a field of seven teams.

TOP 20 FINISH BY ELLIE GIVENS IN CALIFORNIA

Ellie Givens from Darlington and Denver University gained a top-20 finish in a field of 95 players at the Battle at Rancho Bernardo women's college competition at Rancho Bernardo Golf Club, San Diego State in California.
Ellie had scores of 74, 77 and 73 for a total of 224 over a par-72 course of 6,336yd. She finished joint 16th behind the winner, former British girls open champion from Belgium, Laura Gonzales (Purdue University). She put together three good rounds of 70, 71 and 68 for a seven-under-par 209 which saw her win by six strokes.
Raffi Dwyer (Oregon University) from Hayling Island finished joint 60th on 236 with scores of 83, 74 and 79.
Ellie Givens' Irish team-mate, Sarah Faller finished joint 71st on 241, made up of 85, 77 and 79.
Aberdeen-born Katy Cardno, a student at Texas Christina, had ronds of 82, 78 and 82 for a total of 242 and a share of 75th place.
Purdue (879) won the team event ahead of Southern California (886) with Denver (923) 12th of 17 teams.

JESSICA SCHIELE SHARES 20th PLACE AT WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS

Jessica Schiele from Grimsby, a student at Redlands CC, El Reno in Oklahoma, did best of the four British students competing in the Midwestern State Invitational women's college tournament at The Champions' Course, Wichita Falls in Texas.
Jessica, pictured right, shot an 81 and a 78 for 159 which earned her joint 20th place in a field of 86 players behind the winner by two shots, Kendra Whittley (Midwestern) (73-74 for 147).
Scot Linzi Allan from Ayrshire and Newman University, Wichita, Kansas shared 24th place on 160 with scores of 81 and 79.
Linzi's Newman colleagues, Alyssa Balding from Northyumberland and Megan Birdsey from Bedfordshire finished on 164 and 169 respectively. Alyssa had rounds of 77 and 87 for a share of 39th place while Megan had rounds of 87 and 82 for joint 57th place.
Redlands (630) finished fifth behind team winners Northeastern State (617). Newman (642) came eighth in a field of 16 teams.

SIAN EVANS MAKES TOP 20 AT EAGLES LANDING, GEORGIA

Gillingham's Sian Evans (East Tennessee State) shared 20th place in a field of 81 players at the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate women's tournament at Eagles Landing Country Club, Stockbridge in Georgia.
Over a par-72 course of 6,407yds, the Kent player, pictured left, was level with the ultimate winner Mitsuki Katahira (Daytona State) after a first-round 71 but subsequent rounds of 81 and 76 put Evans 18 shots behind the world-ranked Japanese player whose second and third rounds were 73 and 66 for six-under 210. Quite a player!
Sian's ETSU team-mate from Cramlington, Lauren Smith,  finished 77th on 259 with scores of 88, 85 and 86.
East Tennessee State (906) finished third behind Notre Dame (888) nd Maryland (905) in a field of 14 teams.
