PITLOCHRY PRO MARK PIRIE SHOWS THE WAY

NEWS RELEASE
PGA Professional Mark Pirie has a goal of finding new young golfers who haven’t tried the sport before. He wants to offer them golf at Pitlochry Golf, and he does this knowing that his golf club is hard to beat in terms of providing the warmest of welcomes to newcomers.
Mark, pictured, will be taking golf into five local Highland Perthshire primary schools in
partnership with Karen Todd the Highland Perthshire schools sports co-ordinator who has been a great help in linking between the schools and the golf club, and clubgolf, Scotland’s national junior programme which seeks to give every Scottish nine-year-old an experience of the game.
He will also be holding taster coaching sessions at the area’s Atholl Leisure Centre during the Easter holidays, all building up to a Golf Festival/ Open Day at Pitlochry on Sunday 24th April, where youngsters, from the age of 8 upwards and all abilities can mix and enjoy activities on the day and receive coaching from 2 PGA Pro’s.
Through a strong partnership with clubgolf, the club also now has 8 trained Level 1 golf coaches who will support the coaching activities on the day and are helping to expand the junior golf provision at Pitlochry going forwards.
Mark said “The wonderful support from Karen Todd through the local schools, the support from clubgolf and the enthusiasm towards the juniors from all the Level 1 coaches and with more members becoming involved, this will ensure that we will continue to make further strong progress in the future”.
In the eight years that Mark has worked at Pitlochry and working hand in hand with all of the local partners, he has introduced more than 450 kids to the game of golf, many of whom had never considered picking up a golf club.
