ELGIN PLAYER WAS TWO DOWN WITH TWO TO PLAY IN SEMI-FINALS

Elgin's Jenny Milne won the Northern Counties women's golf championship for a second time when she beat Scotland senior international Anne Ryan (Tain) by 3 and 2 in the final at Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club today.
Jenny, 39, had been two down with two to play in the morning semi-finals before winning three holes in a row to beat Anne Ryan's sister, Mary Smith (Tain), also a senior international, at the 19th.
In the final, Anne Ryan enjoyed some early success but Jenny Milne kept pulling her back to square and that was the position at the turn.
Milne went ahead to stay at the 10th, going two up at the 14th and clinching the title - which she last won at Royal Dornoch in 2007 - with a birdie at the 16th.
Joan Darroch, the host club's lady captain, won the handicap title. Playing off 21 she beat Fiona MacDonald (Royal Dornoch), handicap 19, by 4 and 3 in the final.
