LIVERPOOL STUDENT FINISHES JOINT 2ND IN BAKER SPRING INVITE

James Tisdale from Liverpool, coming up to the end of his freshman year as a student at Bethany College, Kansas, tied for second place in a field of 60 players at the Baker University Spring Invite men's college tournament at Alvamar Public golf course, Lawrence in Kansas.
No indication of what the weather was like for this week's 54-hole event, but the scoring suggests it was bad. Winner Matt Mickelson (Graceland University) finished with an 18-over-par total of 234 with rounds of 80, 78 and76.
Tisdale, pictured, finished four shots behind on 238 with scores of 79, 79 and 80.
Another Bethany College student, junior Jack Hiscock from Swindon, finished joint 11th on 250 with rounds of 89, 79 and 82.
Bethany College headed a field of 10 teams to win the team honours.

JACK HILUTA T6 IN SUN BELT CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

Jack Hiluta, pictured left, from Chelmsford, a student at South Alabama University, tied for sixth place in a field of 55 players at the Sun Belt Conference championship at The Shoals, Alabama.
Jack had rounds of 74 and 68 (joint best second round) for 142 over a long course (7,170yd) with a par of 72.
Jack finished five shots behind the winner by one, Carlos Ortiz (North Texas) (69-68).
South Alabama (591) finished joint sixth in a field of 11 teams behind winners Denver (573).

ELLIOT GROVES FINISHES SECOND IN SOONER CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

Elliot Groves from Winchester, a student at Oklahoma City University, finished second, beaten by three shots, in a field of 50 players at the Sooner Athletic Conference championship at Cherokee Hills Golf Club, Catoosa, Oklahoma.
Over a par-70 course of 6,637yd, Elliot, pictured, scored 72, 67 and 74 for three-over 213.
Winner was Preston Wilkins (Oklahoma Christian) with scores of 66, 72 and 72 for 210.
Consolation for Elliot was the fact that Oklahoma City (858) won the team title by two shots from rivals Oklahoma Christian in a field of 10 teams.
