MARSHALL v HARGAN IN SEMI-FINAL AFTER HOLDER CAINE IS KO'd

Title-holder Linda Caine went down at the 19th to Dunbar clubmate Noreen Fenton in the first round of the match-play stages of the Midlothian women's county championship at Kingsknowe Golf Club today.
Fenton then lost in the quarter-finals by one hole to top seed Karen Marshall (Baberton).
Former international Claire Hargan, now playing out of Strathmore Golf Centre since she joined the SLGA tournament staff and winner of the county title six times in the past eight years, had two comfortable wins to reach the last four.
Marshall plays Hargan on Sunday morning for a place in the final. In the other semi-final it will be teenager Kate McIntosh (Broomieknowe) against the experience Louise Fraser (Kingsknowe).
