PETER TARVER-JONES SCORES SECOND SPRING WIN IN AMERICA

Peter Tarver-Jones from Worthing, Sussex, in his last few weeks as a student at Belmont Abbey Collegte, North Carolina, is certainly bowing out with a bang.
His victory in the Carolina Sands Intercollegiate at Carolina Sands Golf Club, White Lake, North Carolina was his second of the spring season on the US college circuit.
Tarver-Jones, pictured right, won this one with a birdie at the fourth hole of a sudden death play-off against Ben Conroy (Coker). They had tied on seven-under-par 137 over the par-72, 6,925yd course, Tarver-Jones with rounds of 70 and 67, Conroy with 68 and 69.
Scott Lambert (UNC-Pembroke), a member at Matfen Hall GC, Northumberland, finished a creditable sixth in a field of 81 players. He had scores of 71 and 70 for 141, only four shots behind the play-off contestants.
Adam Hedges (Belmont Abbey) from Bromley tied for 11th place on 143 with scores of 72 and 71.
Belmont Abbey (567) won the team title by 10 shots from joint runners-up Barton College and Coker College. UNC-Pembroke (583) finished seventh in the field of 12 teams.
