RACHAEL McQUEEN AYRSHIRE CHAMPION FOR FIRST TIME

The Ayrshire women's county championship was played at Largs Golf Club while the Editor was on holiday and he has only just caught up with most of the information via the Ayrshire county website which does not reveal the qualifying scores - so we cannot tell you who were the top seeds - nor are the winning margins in the match-play ties recorded, except for the final.
Rachael McQueen (Troon Ladies) won the title for the first time, beating Lesley Hendry (Routenburn), county champion for five of the past six years from 2005, by one hole.
Last year the same players met in the final when Lesley won by 6 and 5.
The picture of Rachael with the championship trophy has been copied from the Ayrshire county website. The Editor hopes they don't mind!
Results from the later stages of the championship:
QUARTER-FINALS
Lesley Hendry bt Catherine Malcolm.
Gillian Arnott bt Mhairi McKay.
Audrey Thompson bt Jane Finnie.
Rachael McQueen bt Jenny Linklater.
SEMI-FINALS
Hendry bt Arnott
McQueen bt Thompson.
FINAL
McQueen bt Hendry 1 hole.

+The Editor invites county officials to E-mail results/scores (particularly from the qualifying rounds) from their county championships on the day of play to Colin@scottishgolfview.com for display on Kirkwoodgolf.co.uk and also for onward transmission to the morning newspapers.
