SHANNON McWILLIAM WINS FIRST ABERDEENSHIRE GIRLS' EVENT

Eleven-year-old Shannon McWilliam had her handicap cut from the 20s down to 15 following her good displays at the recent SLGA Under-16 girls' championship at Strathmore.
But that did not stop the Aboyne girl winning the first Aberdeenshire girls' competition of the season on Sunday - a Stableford at Murcar Links.
Shannon, pictured, gained 36pt off her new rating of 15.
Runner-up was Rachel Polson (Peterculter) who, 24 hours earlier, had missed the cut down in Ayrshire after 36 holes of the Helen Holm Scottish women's open amateur championship.
