TOP SEED LAURA MURRAY THROUGH TO SHIRE SEMI-FINALS
By COLIN FARQUHARSONColin@scottishgolfview.com
Defending champion Sammy Leslie (Westhill) was knocked out in the first round of the match-play stages of the Aberdeenshire women's county championship on a sunny morning at Murcar Links today.
And so Sammy's run of bad form continues. She failed to beat the 36-hole cut in last weekend's "Helen Holm" at Troon and then struggled to get past the qualifying round when the county championship began with the stroke-play eliminator on Friday.

Now Leslie has gone down by a big margin - 5 and 4 - to Hazlehead youngster Claire Prouse.
Claire carried on the good work to reach Sunday morning's semi-finals for the first time with a 3 and 1 win in the quarter-finals over another teenager, Rachel Polson (Peterculter).
In Sunday morning's semi-finals, Prouse will play the top seed and international player Laura Murray (Alford) who has recovered quickly from missing the cut in last weekend's "Helen Holm." Laura, who has never won the title, earned a place in the last four by beating Linda Urquhart (Banchory) 3 and 2.
The other semi-final will feature two former champions playing out of host Murcar Links club, Donna Pocock and Sara Mathieson, wife of Dunbar assistant professional Terry.
Sara, title-winner two years ago, beat four times past champion Sheena Wood (Aberdeen Ladies) 3 and 2 in the quarter-finals while Donna, title-winner in 2008 and beaten in last year's final, beat another Murcar Links player Carol Wilson 2 and 1.
The first ever Aberdeenshire handicap championship final will feature Lauren Whyte (Hazlehead), daughter of the county captain, Ellie, against Lynne Tough (Newmachar).
