CATRIONA MATTHEW SHARES SIXTH PLACE IN BRAZIL CUP

Catriona Matthew, who won the LPGA Tour's inaugural Brazil Cup in 2009 when five months pregnant, finished joint sixth in this year's event at Rio de Janeiro.
Mariajo Uribe of Colombia shot a six-under 66 in the final round to pick up her first LPGA Tour win by one stroke from runner-up Lindsey Wright, the Kent-born Australian.
Uribe, last year's runner-up in the 36-hole semi-exhibition event, made seven birdies and a bogey to finish at 9-under 135 at the Itanhanga Golf Club.
Uribe was 5 under after the first seven holes on Sunday, then picked up two more birdies and a bogey on the back nine before finishing with four straight pars to secure the victory in the 30-player tournament.
"I knew I had to go out there and take advantage of the par-5s," said Uribe, who birdied four of the six par-5s. "I just went out and had a good start. I was really excited, I just tried to keep my mind in the present and tried to keep playing how I was playing."
Wright shot a second consecutive 68. She birdied No. 17 but was not able to make a charge in the final hole to force a playoff. Sweden's Maria Hjorth finished third at 7 under after a 5-under final round.
Uribe, who lost last year's tournament to American Meaghan Francella in a six-hole play-off, received $108,000 of the $720,000 prize fund. Francella finished 19th at 2 over par.
First-round leader Heather Bowie Young of the United States followed her 66 on Saturday with an even par round that left her tied for fourth.
Catriona Matthew finished with a 70 for a five-under-par total which earned her a share of sixth place.
Behind her was the world's No. 2 ranked player, Suzann Pettersen of Norway. Pettersen, coming off a victory last week in the Sybase Match Play Championship, began the final round two shots off the lead but had a 1-over 73 that left her out of contention.
American Cristie Kerr, second in the Match Play event, shot a 2-under 70 to finish tied for 11th.
The tournament was affected by bad weather both days and the final hole had to be changed from a par-4 to a par-3 because of rain.
