MARY DOWLING WINS HERMITAGE SCRATCH CUP

Irish champion Mary Dowling (New Ross) captured her second Scratch Cup of the year following an impressive 73 in the afternoon to win the Heatons Hermitage Scratch Cup last Sunday.
Mary added a level par 73 to her opening 78 to close the gap on lunchtime leader and home favourite Susie Hayes (Hermitage).
She went on to lead the field by a whopping six shots ahead of Louise Mernagh (Woodenbridge), Pat Doran (Donabate) and Karen Delaney (Carlow) who all tied for second place. Dowling's victory sees her capture her second 36 hole title following her one-stroke victory over the field at the Royal Co. Down Ladies Scratch Salver at the end of March.
