Par-matching second-round 70 breaks Colvend women's course record

Jordana Graham (Southerness) won the Southwest of Scotland women's amateur championship at Colvend Golf Club, near Dalbeattie on the Solway First Coast.
Jordana broke the hours-old course record of 73 with a par-matching second-round 70 for a final total of 148.
Colvend's ladies course is a short one at 4,774 yd with a par of 70 (37-33) but when Gillian Monteith (Portpatrick Dunskey) returned a 73 in the morning that was good enough, not only to gvie her the first-round lead but break the old course (sorry, we don't know what it was previously).
There was a very strong wind throughout the competition with rain setting in after lunchtime to make the conditions readly testing.
Gillian's second round was a 75 for a total of 148.
Jordana's 70 after an opening was a very good effort to win the area title.
The Handicap Cup, decided over one round, was won by Kay Gilliespie (New Galloway) with a net 69 off a handicap of 20.
The team trophy was won by Dumfries and Galloway with 252.
