KAREN MARSHALL REGAINS MIDLOTHIAN TITLE AFTER 19 YEARS

Baberton's Karen Marshall today won the Midlothian women's county golf championship at Kingsknowe Golf Club – 19 years after she was last champion! The top seed, Karen beat Louise Fraser (Kingsknowe), the No 6 qualifier, by 7 and 6 in the final. Karen, non-playing captain of last season's Scotland Under-18 girls team, was in control from start to finish.  She eagled the third and birdied the sixth to be out in one under par 36 . She never lost a hole and played great golf from start to finish. In the morning semi-finals, Marshall had a resounding 7 and 6 win over former international Claire Hargan (Strathmore), six times past county champion. Host club women's captain Elaine Lumsden won the B Championship. She beat Carole Mason (Dalmahoy) 5 and 4 in the final. SEMI-FINALS Marshall bt Hargan 7 and 6. Fraser bt McIntosh 2 holes.
