SALLY WATSON HAS SUB-PAR ROUND ON THIRD DAY OF NCAA
Sally Watson and Stephanie Meadow again had contrasting fortunes on a weather-affected third day of the NCAA Division 1 women's championship at Bryan, Texas.
Stanford University, California student Sally had her best round yet - a one-under-par 71 after opening efforts of 73 and 78. That sterling effort has pushed the Curtis Cup Scot from Edinburgh up to a share of 26th place on 222.
Curtis Cup reserve last year, Stephanie Meadow, who has had a stellar college year as a freshman at Alabama University, slipped back with a 77 over the 6260yd, par-72 course.
The Northern Ireland player is sharing 48th place on 226. Her earlier scores were 226.
Two of the leading players still have to complete their third rounds. Tiffany Lua (UCLA) has played 14 holes and is five under par overall. Her first and second rounds were a pair of 71s.
On the overall scoreboared, Tiffany is three shots clear of Spain's Marta Silva - who will be playing in next month's "British" at Royal Portrush - is at two under par, having completed three rounds of 71 71 and 72 for two-under-par 214.
Two under par with four holes to complete in her third round is second-round leader Austin Ernst (Louisiana State). She scored 72 and 66 over the first two days.
