SCOTS 1st AND 10th IN NEW MEXICO COLLEGE TOURNAMENT

Dundee's Jordan McColl, a student at New Mexico Junior College, won the WJCAC Invitational men's college golf tournament at Sierra Blanca Golf Club, Ruidoso at the weekend.
McColl, a member of Scotscraig Golf Club and beaten by eventual champion Michael Stewart in the quarter-finals of last year's Scottish amateur championship at Gullane, had scores of 67 and 70 for a seven-under-par total of 137 over the 6757yd (par 72) course.
McColl, pictured, won by a shot from Nathan Park (Midland Community College) who had a par of 69s for 138.
Two Western Texas CC students, Nick Flynn from Laleham, Surrey and James Kerr from Solihull finished joint third and joint fifth on 140 and 141 respectively. Flynn scores 72-68, Kerr 72-69 and their efforts helped Western Texas win the team title.
Chris Bell from Carnoustie, a student at Odessa Community College, Texas, finished joint 10th in a field of 45 players with scores of 71 and 72 for 143.
Jonathan Jones (Frank Phillips College, Bolger, Texas) from England finished joint 14th on 146 with scores of 74 and 72. Team-mate Lewis Brown, also from an undisclosed part of England, finished joint 29th on 149 (70-79) while a third Frank Phillips College student, Steve Evans from Wales had scores of 74 and 76 for 150 which earned him a share of 33rd place.

Western Texas (562) won the team title ahead of New Mexico (573) with Odessa (577) third, Midland (578) fourth and Frank Phlllips College (582) fifth.
New Mexico Military Institute (584) finished last of six.
