STEPHANIE MEADOW IMPROVES, SALLY WATSON SLIPS BACK IN US

The twol British students in the NCAA Division 1 women's championship at College Station, Bryan in Texas had contrasting fortunes on the second day.
Northern Ireland's Stephanie Meadow (Alabama University) improved by a shot on her first-round performance with a two-over-par 74 for a halfway tally of 149 which put her in joint 30th place in a field of over 120.
But Edinburgh-born Sally Watson (Stanford Unversity, California) slipped back to a sare of 49th place with a six-over 78 for a two-round tally of 151 over the par-72 6,260yd course.
Sally had eight bogeys on her card and only two birdies, both at short holes, the seventh and the 16th.
Austin Ernst (Louisiana University) leads the field by three shots after a brilliant second round of six-under-par 66 for a six-under total of 138.
UCLA lead the team event ahead of Purdue with Louisiana State in third place.
