TARLAND TWO EARN PLACE IN CRIEFF FINAL
By COLIN FARQUHARSON Colin@scottishgolfview.com Tarland Golf Club members claimed two of the four places in the SLGA Medal Final at Crieff GC on September 4 when the North-east regional final was held at Aboyne Golf Club today. Kathleen Esslemont (Newburgh), playing off 10, and Tarland's Catriona Ross, also a 10-handicapper, were the two qualifiers from the Silver Division. Both had net 72s with Kathleen earning the first prize with a better net inward half of 34 to Catriona's net 38. Blairgowrie's Gillian Wallace, who plays off six, also had a net 72 but she lost out with a net inward half of 39. The Bronze Division qualifiers were Liz Barrack (Meldrum House), who had the day's lowest net round of 64, playing off 19, and Kay McCombie (Tarland) with a net 70 off 21 of a handicap. The CSS was 73 compared with a par and standard scratch score of 72. A total of 67 players took part.
