Kim Williams, 25, from Pretoria and making her debut in the championship, was two up after three holes, having won the second with a birdie and the third with a par. Meadow won back the third with a par. Then followed a string of halved holes, including the seventh, halved in birdies.
Williams, pictured right, went two up at the eighth and a birdie at the ninth put the South African three up.
Meadow cut her deficit to two by winning the 10th but she could not turn the flow of the match. Williams won the 11th and the 13th with pars to go four up with five to play and halves at the next two finished the match.
Williams was two under par for the holes played.

Amy Boulden (Maesdu) bt Kyle Roig (Puerto Rico) 1 hole

Amy, 17, one down at the turn, squared the matc at the 10th but lost the 13th and 14th, missing both greens and failed to get up and down tos ave par.
Two down with four to play, the Welsh girl won the 13th with a par and squared the match with a pitch and putt 4 at the 15th. Boulden went ahead with a one-putt birdie 4 at the 17th after driving into the rough and still being 80yd short of the green in two.
Both players easily got home in to at the par-5 18th. Roig two-putted for a birdie 4 and Boulden did likewise to halve the hole and clinch victory.

Illiska Vervey (South Africa) bt Sophia Popov (Germany) 1 hole.

Honours were even after nine holes of a tight match. Iliska Verwey's par at the 10th was good enoug to put her one up but Popov squared it with a par at the 12th.
The ding-dong struggle continued to sway backwards and forward with Verwey showing aead again with a par at the 13th.
The 14th and 15th holes were halved before Verwey holed a 15ft putt for a birdie 3 at the 16th to go two up - the first time in the match that either player had been more than one hole up.
Popov was not finished yet, however. She was on in 2 at the long 17th to reduce her deficit to one hole. Verwey holed a 40ft putt across the 18th green for a half which took her through by a one-hole margin.

Alexandra Bonetti (France) bt Marta Sanz Barrio (Spain) 2 and 1.

Bonetti, winner of the British girls' open championship at Royal Belfast last summer, was two up at the turn and she maintained that advantage over the second nine to win on the 17th green.

Charlotte Wild (Mere) bt Marta Silva (Spain) 1 hole.
Charlotte Wild ensuring England of a representative in Saturday morning’s semi-finals, Kelly Tidy (Royal Birkdale) having already won her match.
Wild beat the highly-rated Spanish player, Marta Silva, by one hole in tight match.
Silva, a winner of more than one on the US women’s college circuit, was one up at the turn but her English opponent hung on grimly, squared the match and then won the 17th to be one up on the 18t tee. The last was halved to take Wild into the last eight.
Kelly Tidy (Royal Birkdale) bt Marita Engzelius (Norway) 5 and 4.

Tidy was three under par as she followed up yesterday's impressive win over the World No 1 female amateur, Lydia Ko (NZ). Kelly established a five-hole lead over the outward half, winning the first, third and fifth to go three up.
Engezelius stopped the rot by winning the sixth but Tidy then birdied the seventh, parred the eighth and birdied the ninth, winning all three holes.
Tidy went six up with a par at the 12th but lost the 13th before a half at the 14th ended the one-sided contest.

Lauren Taylor (Woburn) bt Thea Hoffmeister (Germany) 1 hole.

Lauren Taylor was two up at the turn but Hoffmeister came back at her to be one up after 16. Taylor won the 17th to square the match.
Hoffmeister was in a greenside bunker in two at the par-5 18th while Taylor was on in two shots but some 40 paces short of the flag.
The German girl came out well from the pot bunker to about 4ft short of the stick. Taylor left her approach putt 6ft short and missed that birdie putt.
Hoffmeister needed to hole her putt to win the hole and take the match down the 19th but she hit her putt too strongly and the ball hit the back of the hole and stayed above ground. Taylor tapped in her putt for a half in 5 – and victory by one hole.

Perrine Delacour (France) bt Louise Kristersson (Sweden) 4 and 3.

Perrine Delacour, British girls champion at West Lancs GC two years ago, beat the No 2 seed, Louise Kristersson with more ease than seem likely earlier.
Delacour took a one-hole lead over an evenly-contested first nine and then surged clear over the early holes on the inward half to be four up by the 14th.
