FIFE v MIDLOTHIAN FOR EAST DIVISION COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

Fife and Midlothian, last year's champions, will meet on Wednesday in a title-deciding match on the third and last day of the weather-hit East Division women's inter-county team golf championship at Dunfermline.

 With heavy rain falling at the start of play and with worsening conditions expected in the afternoon, the four county captains made the decision to play the singles in the morning so that a result could be achieved in the event that the foursomes could not be completed in the afternoon. 

"This proved to be a very wise decision as by 2.30pm the rain was torrential and we had to abandon the rest of the day's play," said Fife captain Christine Steedman.

The East Division champions go forward to the four-cornered Scottish county finals
