HOLE IN ONE BY SILVER WINNER KATE McINTOSH AT PITREAVIE
By COLIN FARQUHARSON Colin@scottishgolfview.com It really was an "ace" day for Kate McIntosh, 17-year-old Broomieknowe GC member, at Pitreavie Golf Club, Dunfermline today. Most golfers never achieve a hole in one in their whole life but when Kate, pictured, holed her tee shot with an eight-iron at the 130yd third hole it was the second time in her short but very promising golf career. The occasion was the SLGA Medal East Final and Kate won one of the three Silver Division qualifying places for the Grand Final at Crieff GC in September. Even with a hole in one, it was a close-run thing for Miss McIntosh who had a gross rond of one-under-par 71. Playing off three of a handicap, she was one of four players in the Silver category who had net scores of 68. It went down to a card play-off and Kate came out on top with the best inward half. Barbara Hamilton (Newbattle), playing off 14, was the No 2 qualifier with a better inward half than the third qualifier, Louise Woodburn (Muckhart), playing off 15. The fourth player on 68 who missed out - on a comparison of the last six holes - was Diane Watson, a five-handicapper at Lundin Ladies. The three qualifiers for Crieff from the Bronze Division were Joanna Daley (Aberdour) (28) with a net 63; Frances Pitt (Crail) (29) with a net 67 and Mary Stewart (Canmore) (25) with a net 69. Not a qualifier but the fourth best net in the Bronze was Christine Anderson (Grangemouth) who won a prize with a net 71 off 20. There was a field of 103 players and the CSS was 71, one under the par but the same as the SSS. ENDS |
