CONTINENT OF EUROPE'S ROYAL PORTHCAWL JOY IN PICTURES
EDITOR: Only now getting round to editing Vagliano Trophy pictures from last weekend! The first ones will go down well with our Continent of Europe friends .... maybe they should get to play the United States in the year when the Curtis Cup match is not played. The Continent of Europe has now beaten Great Britain and Ireland three times in a row - and Royal Porthcawl's 15.5 to 8.5 was their biggest winning margin yet.
France's Anne Lanrezac, captain of the Continent of Europe team, proudly displays the Vagliano Trophy after the presentation ceremony inside the Royal Porthcawl GC clubhouse last Saturday. Images by Cal Carson Golf Agency.
A DOUBLE WHAMMY. The Continent of Europe's Vagliano Trophy-winning team and their Under-16 girls who won the Junior Vagliano Trophy, played for the first time at Royal Porthcawl.

Stephanie Meadow drives into the wind and rain from the first tee in the final set of singles, watched by team-mates and captain Tegwen Matthews (right).
Danielle McVeigh drives off in her singles match against Germany's Sophia Popov on the Saturday.
Amber Ratcliffe (Royal Cromer), left, and Clara Young (North Berwick), a foursomes pairing for Great Britain and Ireland in the Junior Vagliano Trophy match.
Holly Clyburn (Woodhall Spa) gives a iron tee shot a fair old whack at Royal Porthcawl.
It's cold enough on the Saturday morning (in June) at Royal Porthcawl for Spanish champion Camilla Hedberg to wrap up warmly on the first tee ...
but warm enough for Denmark's Theresa Koelbaek to bare her midriff on the first tee followthrough.
Clara Young (North Berwick), keenly following the flight of her drive from the first tee at Royal Porthcawl in the Junior Vagliano Trophy match. Is she going to be another Catriona Matthew, who is also a daughter of North Berwick? Let's not saddle a 14-year-old with great expectations but Catriona didn't play for Great Britain and Ireland when she was that age, nor did she win the East Lothian county title at 14. So far, so good, Clara ... you're on your way to stardom.
