GLENBERVIE JUNIOR OPEN REPORT AND RESULTS

Prizewinners at the Glenbervie Junior Open today.

Seventy-five 75 junior golfers from as far afield as Croatia, Sweden and the United States took part in today’s Junior Open at Glenbervie Golf Club. The recent wet weather had made the course play longer than usual but this didn’t prevent some tremendous scoring.
In the boys’ competition the best scratch score was a one under par 70 by Andrew Wood (Glenbervie) who beat Peter Maxwell (Glenbervie) by virtue of the better inward half. The best net score in the boys was a 62 by Jack Bingham of Whitecraigs, playing off 10.
The girls’ scratch prize was won by Alison Goodwin (Glenbervie) with a 78. Younger sister Catherine won the handicap prize with a net 66, playing off 14, by a better inward half from Jennifer Allan (Glenbervie).
There were 16 youngsters aged 12 or under playing and the prize in this category was won by 10-year-old Calum Erskine of Grangemouth who had a nett 66 playing off 23.

Scratch – 1st Stuart Irving (Falkirk) 76 bih; 2nd James Yarnell (Glenbervie) 76; 3rd Jamie Hunter (Falkirk Tryst) 82.
Handicap – 1st Gregor McEwan (Alloa) (17) 64; 2nd Jamie McMenemy (Glenbervie) (24) 65; 3rd Euan Simpson (Falkirk) (20) 68.

Girls
Scratch – 1st Alison Goodwin (Glenbervie) 78.
Handicap - 1st Catherine Goodwin (Glenbervie) (14) 66 bih; 2nd Jennifer Allan (Glenbervie) (17) 66
Handicap prize for players aged 12 and under

This was the first event in this week’s Falkirk Festival of Junior Golf sponsored by the Larbert Rotary Club and G and L Financial Services Ltd. There are still places available in the remaining junior opens – Falkirk (Wed 20th), Grangemouth (21st) and Falkirk Tryst (22nd).
