NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION
Ireland lost to France 3-2 today and will now play Denmark for seventh place at the European Ladies Amateur Golf Team Championships at Murhof Golf Club, Austria, 5-9 July 2011.
Charlene Reid (Royal Portrush) and Karen Delaney (Carlow) paired up in the foursomes but met stiff opposition in Léa Charpier and Alexandra Vilatte and were defeated on fifteen.
Leona Maguire continued her excellent run of form and maintained her 100% record with a 3 and 2 victory over Perrine Petit. Stephanie Meadow dominated her match against French stalwart Alexandra Bonetti to win 4 and 3 but when Danielle McVeigh fell to Ariane Provot 3 and 2, the same margin by which Lisa Maguire relinquished her singles point, victory went to the French.
