KELSEY, JANE AND GEMMA TO GOLF FOR GB STUDENTS IN CHINA
Three Scottish students - Kelsey MacDonald (Stirling University), Jane Turner (Robert Gordon University) and Gemma Bradbury (St Andrews University) - have been chosen to play golf for Great Britain in the World University Summer Games at Shenzhen, China from August 12 to 23. The 72-hole men's and women's golf tournaments will be staged at Mission Hills Golf Club which is made up of twelve 18-hole courses. Kelsey MacDonald, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency in action for Great Britain and Ireland in the recent Vagliano Trophy match, is a Nairn Dunbar GC member and winner this year of the British universities women's stroke-play champion by a runaway margin. Jane Turner is a Craigielaw member and won the British title two years in a row before Kelsey. Gemma Bradbury is a former winner of the Scottish universities women's title and is a Welsh international. The only downside of a once-in-a-lifetime golfing trip to China for the three girls is that the dates clash with the British women's open amateur stroke-play championship at Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club. That tournament may or may not have a bearing on the LGU selection committee's preliminary squad for next June's Curtis Cup match at Nairn Golf Club. |
