REPORT FROM DOROTHY MARSHALL
FIRST ROUND
Mary Smith's match against Louise McGillivray was very close with Mary
only needing a half on the 18th.  She had three birdies, was two up at turn
and got home in two at the 390yd par 5 16th.
Lynne Terry stormed away in her match against Nicola Robertson and was seven up at the turn.  She lost the 10th won the 11, lost the 12th and 13
and halved the 14th to win the match.
Sammy Vass was three up at the turn and 3 under par in beating the No 3 seed, Ann F Ramsay, by one hole. After going in the ditch at the 17th, the match was all square going into the 18th and Sammy won by sinking a 30ft putt.  Ann's putt stopped on the lip of the hole.
Heather Munro was three up at the turn in her match against Northern Counties vice-captain Lynne Fraser.  She had birdies at the 8th, 11th, 12th and 15th.  Lynne also had a birdie at the 15th but needed to win that hole
to keep the match alive.
Eleanor Tunn was four up at the turn but said there was nothing
spectacular about the match.  The only birdie she had was at the second
.
Rebecca Wilson had a storming start to her round, being seven up at the turn against Susan MacVicar. The only birdie she had was on the eighth. Susan rallied a bit and managed to hold Rebecca off until the 16th.

evenly matched until the 15th. Laura, the No 12 qualifier, was one up and won the 15th and 16th to take the match.
